The purpose of this training/presentation are to introduce the impact epilepsy has on the individual, family and community. The objectives of the Seizure Recognition and First Aid Presentation from the Epilepsy Support Network of Orange County are to introduce the condition, prevalence, incidence and impact epilepsy has on the individual, family and community.

This event will be held IN PERSON at the Melinda Hoag Smith Center for Healthy Living

The attendee will be able to:

• Demonstrate a basic understanding of epilepsy/seizures and the effect of seizures on the brain

• Identify the most common seizure types

• Understand that seizures can be confused with other diagnosis

• Identify when a seizure begins and ends

• Keep clients/students/staff safe during a seizure

• Know when medical intervention is needed

• Respond confidently and competently to seizures
